This was one of the first articles I posted after beginning my quest to lose weight. I chose the Medi-fast program to get started on my weight loss. Why Medi-fast? I had heard from a dear friend recently who lost 30 pounds in 10 weeks on a program called “Take Shape for Life“. I also met a woman in my church who lost a significant amount of weight with the same program.
The girl in the picture is not me, it is the poster gal for Medi-Fast. I want to say up front that Medi-Fast does work, and I would recommend it to others. Like many other quick weight loss diets, it is in reality a calorie deprivation diet that is formulated so that one is able to lose weight quickly but still be able to function in life. It’s strength is that the meals are pre-prepared, easy to carry with you and you will be able to find a few things that you really look forward to eating. Alot of the food is, in my opinion unpalatable (but then I am a gourmet cook) and I literally lived on the Oatmeal Raisin Crunch Bars and the Vanilla 55 Shake for 2 months. I took them everywhere with me. In the span of 2 months I had only 3 “cheat” meals. Not cheat days, cheat meals. But I did lose 15 pounds. Warning though. This diet is not for the faint of heart, it has it’s good and bad points, but it does work.
Medi-fast helped me quick start my weight loss. I would recommend it BUT with the proviso and warning that you might get constipated, especially if you are prone to constipation, thus you must ask your coach for a remedy for that. One of my readers comments that she replaced the oatmeal cereal with All-Bran and things started moving again. I am not lactose intolerant (I can eat any and every dairy product with no problem) and yet got very very constipated to the point where I discontinued the program. Read on . . .
If you’re a frequent visitor to my blog, you know I am a believer in the beauty of a diet filled with natural foods such as fruits, veges, (especially the dark green leafy ones) whole grains, nuts and seeds, and a RawFu fan (although I will never be 100% raw as I love cooked food too much), BUT I have decided to jump start my weight loss by taking advantage of this Take Shape For Life plan. I’m going to, of course, track my progress online here.
I will admit to you that before I decided to incorporate this diet into my life, I was skeptical, so I watched several videos, and read a few blogs and became as informed as possible. There were many people who were successful with the program, and there were many who were not. So, I was somewhat conflicted as to whether I should or shouldn’t try it. So why did I choose to do this?
THE POWER OF KNOWING SOMEONE PERSONALLY! I knew my coach, and I knew she was not blowing smoke. The proof was in her own personal experience. Why do I say this?
If you are considering this plan, don’t even think about doing it without a coach. It doesn’t cost any more money if you have a coach … the products are the same whether you purchase them through Medifast or through your coach. BUT you will need help, guidance, and encouragement by someone who has walked the road before you. Also, if you have been successful at the plan and you are considering becoming a coach, and you have credibility through your own experience to take off the weight and KEEP IT OFF, you are not only missing out on an important opportunity to help many people safely lose weight (even possibly avoiding gastric bypass surgery) but you are also leaving money on the table by not sharing this with people you come in contact with.
People are watching you! You don’t have to say a word. Your appearance will say it all.
Will I become a coach? Time will tell. But for now, if you’re interested, email me and I’ll direct you to the wonderful coach who helped me. First I have to take the weight off and KEEP it off. If I do, if time (and energy) permit, I most likely will. By God’s grace, I am currently a successful business who is usually open for safe, honest business opportunities (not multi-level stuff like Amway – been there done that … ugh).
Anyway … I’ll keep you posted.
To your health.

ps. In case you’re interested, here (below) is a typical day. See how low in carbs it is, and yet, I was not hungry, irritable, tired, or weak. You can’t see it on the chart, but I you can see it is very balanced.
.
Below is the full nutritional breakdown on this “typical day”. FABULOUS.
The body gets everything it needs given it’s weight and height.
